We met some friends at this sushi go-round on road 146 that’s closer to our house than our usual ¥105 per plate place up near Gorilla Pachinko. That fish tank behind the chef is the refrigerator. As in, the food on the go-round was in the tank a few minutes ago. To keep it fresh, there isn’t as much on the go-round as the ¥105 place, but it’s easy to ‘sumimasen’ a chef over to the table and order seared salmon on rice ( ¥220) or a tuna/onion/rice/seaweed roll ( ¥160). I tried a fermented soybean roll and liked the flavor but it was too gooey-slimy-sticky to stomach more than one. The eel yakitori (BBQ) is supposed to be great, but I was full and the only one left on the go-round had been circling the room since we got there, along with these three pieces of raw squid, sanguinely riding the conveyor belt in endless circles, their lifeless tentacles trailing behind them almost like they’re still swimming. That almost sounds like a haiku…
One last breath of life
Lifeless tentacles trailing
Slow circles of death
