An overview of the Seashelf from the bottom up: The closed cupboard (not in the picture) hides reporting notebooks and hard copies of my favorite articles, like my all time best on human trafficking and my silliest on stalking celebrities.
The partially-visible bottom shelf holds Jacksonville Public Library books.
Cubbies, left to right: travel wallet and seashell stickers; sea shells in bottles (identified by location in a previous post); stamps, books, stationary and more shells (Pensacola in the jar and a Cumberland Island Lightning Whelk).
Top Shelf: obvious—sea shells in jars. I thought it would be years before the large jar was filled with a mix of perfect shells from different seas, but this one trip to Cumberland Island topped it up. It contains: many lightning whelks, Scottish bonnets, alphabet and Florida cones, FL augers, fly-specked and FL ceriths, spinney jewel box, lettered olives, sharks eye/moon snail, baby’s ear, even a fighting conch! The smaller jar next to it is smaller lightning whelks and olives from this weekend, and the apothecary jar holds my favorite shells—the ones in the best condition that are fairly big.
On the very top: local artist rendering of Gibraltar, huge lightning whelk from Cumberland, Jax seashells in bottle.
