I couldn’t wait to take my parents to the Norfolk Botanical Gardens! Bees buzzed the wildflower meadow, butterflies flitted through the butterfly gardens nearby, we had a picnic of wine, cheese, and farm box apples and bread, and rode bikes all throughout the garden. There was lots of wrastling.
Then we took out the canoe on a clear, cool morning. Lollipops kept the kids delighted while we floated to the far bank of the Lafayette and back, pulling the boat out of the water on the opposite side of our street from where we’d put in. Chris and I had thought about doing that once, but didn’t have enough hands to restrain kids and do the heavy lifting. When Isaac wasn’t busy with candy, he played with a water bottle and its lable. As always, I wonder why I ever buy him toys when he is just as happy to play with…trash.
