We started on the topside bar, but soon descended to the Bimini Beach Bar and Grill to escape the rain. This wasn’t here before—hurricane damage or something. Chris bought me one of Hemingway’s famous minty mojitos, and we helped ourselves to the delicious buffet—we liked the spicy mini steaks. I had three. That explains why I’ve always found Hemingway’s food so-so: never tried the steak! Yum yum yum.
We have several neighbors, friends from church, and friends from Japan in our squadron, so finding people to chat to was simple. Until I ran into a frenemy from way back, who asked where we’re living now, then sneered, “Oh…sorry,” at the mention of our neighborhood. Um, I forgive you? Rude! PS—we love our neighborhood!
We sat with NOT them, met some new people, and listened to the speeches as lightening flashed on all sides and glinted off the water. The palms and sailboat masts soughed in pre-storm gusts as the formalities wrapped up, and we crossed the parking lot in the first cold pelts of rain. So glad I brought my navy sweater!
