I’ve heard all the stories about growing up in Poway. Surely there’s nothing my folks haven’t already discovered, right?
The uncles and cousins suggested a Thanksgiving Day hike up Mt. Woodson, home of Potato Chip Rock, and—get this—my parents have never been! Even though you can see it from Grandfather’s front porch.
I didn’t know how far we’d get toting both kids along, but we actually made it all the way up. Isaac sustained some road rash running down the mountain, and I carried one kid or another 98 percent of the hike up and down, but we managed to do all four/five miles and 1,500 feet of elevation! My activity app says it was 98 flights of stairs and over 13,000 steps. Whew! Everyone took a good nap before our Feast of Thanksgiving!
