Japanese people are not just fashion-forward but more like fashion-future. I photoed this girl in March and lo and behold, all the fall fashions feature belted, cap-sleeved warmies and faux fur. Only in Japan can you piece together an outfit that makes you look like Attila the Hun’s closest living relative and know no one will look twice except to admire. It’s fun here!
On a different note, I feel like I’m finally figuring out an aspect of Japanese fashion that has really been frustrating to me: makeup. Moving from sunny Florida where we were at the beach between March and October to the Land of the Rising Sun Behind the Clouds All Month and a Half of Summer has left my skin at an all time palest. Seriously, at the end of summer my hair is darker and my skin is paler than it ever was in the dead of winter before! What will I look like this winter?! Yikes! Anyway, this means I have to take better care of my skin because blemishes don’t fade into that long lost tan. It also means I can wear different makeup colors because the paler ones show up now. And bronzers have given way to rosy blushes because I now have the natural coloring of a dead jellyfish. But makeup shopping has been fun! I just bought the Clinique fall palette in Black Walnut and Fig. Yay! Seasons!
