One time I was trying to get somewhere faster and thought, “I bet this is a shortcut!” I ended up on a freeway on the Scoop lost for the better part of an hour. I will be lost forever! I thought. I will become a ghost on a ghost Scoop, doomed to wander the back roads of Japan forever! Then the freeway abruptly dead-ended way down my route to my farthest-away English class. Oh. Well here I am. I zipped along and for the first time noticed a dark, mysterious bamboo tunnel descending from the main road. I’ve driven this road for more than six months and never seen it, probably because when I drive north on this road it’s always dark and you can’t see it coming from the other direction. So yesterday, while scouting out new vendors and sources for the shop where I work I found myself in this area yet again. It took a little while, but I found the bamboo tunnel! The one-car road leads down to some roads raised a few feet over rice fields, so if you don’t pay attention, sorry, you’re toppling over the edge.

The whole "I will be lost forever" comment sounds like what I say when I am completely frustrated 🙂
