Luke and Amber’s cabin in Cooper Landing is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. The Kenai River is opaque with glacial deposits—milky azure. So beautiful. When the pine and aspen reflect off the surface it becomes golden and jade.
For dinner we had salmon we caught THAT MORNING in the Russian River. And by we, of course I mean Lucky Luke, the world’s most naturally talented fisherman.
Fresh salmon, S’MORES, campfire, family, popcorn, cousins, zipline, prayer time, throwing rocks—it was almost too much fun to handle.
“This is my kind of camping!” I said.
“In what way is this camping?” asked my dad.
“There is a campfire. And then we get to sleep inside,” I said, shocking my parents’ camping heritage to its very core.
No way am I sleeping in a tent in Alaska! The scariest part of my day is Luke’s driving, and after that, running from the main cabin to our cabin, hoping all the while I don’t get eaten by a bear!
