Knock knock knock. It was 1:45AM. Chris opened the hotel room door. Two ladies stood there.
“Is this your cat?”
They’d found Pounce downstairs roaming the lobby and tracked us down through his microchip tag. We have no idea how he got out. He’s found plenty of good hiding spots in the rooms so we don’t necessarily think anything of it if we can’t find him right away. I don’t know what we would have done if he’d checked out of the hotel by himself. Dumb cat!
Checking out the next morning the lady was like, “oh, are y’all the people with the cat?”
“Yeah, and the ones with the kids screaming at breakfast, too. We’re driving across the country. Yay! Moving!”
Pounce’s midnight excursion confirmed we made the right decision staying in pet-friendly motels this leg of our journey. I ran the idea by Chris of staying in a nice hotel with a great deal (that did NOT allow pets) and just sneaking Pounce in, but Chris declined to hop onboard that idea train. For the best, it turns out. Dumb cat!
I was showing Isaac how to play the block game Jenga.
“Ok, say you start by doing this…”
“You start by doing this,” he repeated obediently, with no sass.
I love these kids.
