Here is a simple top-10 summary of how wonderful my dad is:
1. He and my mom stopped everything they’d normally be doing on a Tuesday afternoon to drop Hannie and me off and (three weeks later) pick us up from Houston Intercontinental.
2. When I got sick on that return flight, he and Mama did not mind canceling their Friday night plans to see a bunch of their friends in order to take the unwell Mari to Houston Intercontinental yet again to pick up Chris!
3. He and Mama don’t mind if I come camp out at home while Chris is at ‘camp,’ deployed, or otherwise busy—in fact, Daddy asks when I’m coming back next.
4. Daddy takes good care of Mama, which directly feeds into being a great dad.
5. Russia 2004!!!
6. Daddy encourages me to use my talents in ways I wouldn’t think to.
7. He still thinks Hannie and I are 8 and 10 years old, but somehow manages to treat us like we’re big girls 🙂
8. He is courageous and strong!
9. Daddy is brave in ways I want to be brave—he takes risks and hard-lines when necessary and doesn’t waver from the truth.
10. He is the wisest man I know. Ever. And still likes to talk about things he’s learning or struck by in a way that’s easy to understand and relate to.
