Chris may be enjoying sunny weather somewhere in Guam at the moment but I was happy to celebrate our one year anniversary of moving to Hawaii right here in windy, rain-ish Kailua. Should I buy a coconut? Should I wear a lei?
I jogged across the sand with the Mokes over my shoulder, picked beach plastic out of the sand with Eloise and my mom, played Monkey in the Middle with Isaac and my dad, had wine on our deck before dinner, went to hula lessons to practice footwork and hula hands, then chatted with Chris and finished the book I’ve been reading, Alan Brennert’s “Molokai.”
Happy Hawaiiversary! I couldn’t be happier to be just five miles from where we started this journey a year ago. We’ve made many friends and memories in that short time! This is the longest I can remember going without crossing state/international borders. Celebrate!
