I Love Zoo, Too

Here are some shots of our favorite place: THE VIRGINIA ZOO!! Eloise has been at least three times. Isaac and I have been at least a dozen. We averaged once per week before Eloise was born and the weather got cold, and we’ve been in the cold, too! We love the zoo!! 

When we picked out our house, we explored Google Maps of the area. We street-viewed our way to the zoo. It’s only a mile away! We rode our bikes once and it was fun, even while pregnant. 

There are things to climb on, a splash pad in the summer, and best of all: A ZOO TRAIN!! When we found out we were moving to Norfolk of all places, we asked Isaac if he’d like to move to a house near the zoo and ride the train. That’s all he talked about for the next month, so within days of arriving, we signed up for our annual pass and bought a handful of zoo train tokens “for the CONDUCTOR!” Isaac repeats often. 

We meet friends there. We enjoy the gardens. We have lunch. I have Isaac a snack near the bears once. Did you know their sense of smell is super strong? That big bear started sniffing and snorting and came right over to Isaac, eyeing him like a snack. Who could blame him? 

The best part is, at just a mile away with an annual pass, it’s always worth it. Even alone with both kids, it’s one of the few doable outings. WE LOVE THE ZOO!!
