Fall and pumpkin pie
The darkening starlit sky
The champagne is dry
I hope it is obvious that a pieku is a holiday haiku. Toward the end of our Thanksgiving feast my mom passed out slips of paper announced the price of dessert: participation in pieku creation.
No inspiration
Like Evelyn’s pumpkin pie,
So out of my way!
—Debi
It looks interesting!
Yes, I like to eat good pie!
I’ll be happy now
—Mary
Pie and cake are good
Cake with rum is better still
I want both tonight
—Sam
Pie is good for you
Your brain, your mouth, your essence.
Would you like some more?
—Mama
It’s hard to believe
I could put anything more
In my bulging gut
—Mama and Debi collaboration
Don’t forget the crust.
For all pies it is a must
Eat until we bust.
—John
Pie crust is so great.
Kent will certainly be late.
He already ate.
—John
What lasts forever?
Partially hydrogenized crisco.
Shoot me now.
—Mari
O, the holidays!
Holy no longer, but here.
Come, Lord Jesus, Come!
—Mama
The cacophony
After the Thanksgiving feast:
Thankful for it all.
—Mari
Grandkids are the best
Would not trade them for the world
Legos underfoot
—Daddy
More friends chimed in online:
Difficult choices!
Almond, chocolate, coffee
Creams, or raisin…sigh!
—Nancy
Family and friends
Turky, laughter, and much more
We are beyond blessed.
—Amber
Time for pumpkin pie…
Beat and Bake to perfection.
Nom nom nom…nom nom!
—Robert
Bird in the oven
Family are on their way…
Time for some more wine.
—Misha
Well done, all! That last one is my favorite.
