After five thousand years of winter, everything bloomed. Suddenly and everywhere. A month ago things started to bloom but then we had a week of snow flurries. Hopefully this time springtime sticks around!
We walked over to check out the tiny S-shaped tree path near the metro and before I knew it, Isaac was up in the top of the tree.
“This is so nice! Mom! You should come up here!” he hollered down as I boosted Eloise into the tree. I thought about it a second…friends gotten yelled at here for letting their kids climb trees and there were people everywhere… Yeah, that’s dumb, I’m definitely going to need to be up there surrounded by some glorious spring too!
“I blend in!” said Eloise.
“She’s pink-o-flaged!” said Isaac.
There were some girls doing a photo shoot nearby and all our clambering around shook a few petals loose, so the girls came over to pose right under where we were. Isaac had great fun making it snow flowers on them, and they were so delighted they couldn’t stop laughing (these were serious-face photos).
Then we got ice cream and went to play in the woods, where little wooden shelters and huts made of huge sticks and branches get set up and moved around all the time. Sunday was definitely not our first afternoon at the park, but it was our first afternoon there this year with some leaves on the trees!
