The drive through the Valley of the Seven Chateaux was a delight. Green rolling hills, hardly anyone on the road, long snaking tree tunnels, and vistas of far-off castles and ruins on distant hillside.
Some of the castles are privately owned, one was transformed into a community building at the town center, and one was a hostel. My favorite was the last one we visited, Koerich Castle—Chris and I ordered some Thai food and had a drink next door waiting for it to be ready when a fight broke out at the bar. We ate our dinner at the playground after that and ran around the castle ruins, which have been turned into a very cool event venue. It was late and the sun was finally setting when we drove back to the city. It was a cool way to see some of small town Luxembourg outside the city!
