Our first stop Sunday on our Tour de Tokyo was Tokyo Tower. I went at night this summer but Chris had never been! There’s a cute cafe on the observation floor…that wasn’t open yet because we were too early. Bummer. Back downstairs we stopped at the coffee shop and got melon pastries: sweet rolls filled with melon flavoring the consistency of cheez whiz. Chris thought it was delicious. He got the rest of mine. Given the cloudy start to the day and the unending rain the day before I thought I’d be safe to wear my glasses without worrying about squinting all day, but as soon as we left the tower it got sunny. But note: the morning was cool enough for a long-sleeved shirt and a silk scarf!
