While you were all snug in your beds, the morning side of the world was outside frowning up at the clouds and getting rained on for the sake of an eclipse. My friend Elaine looked around and said, “Yeah, total eclipse of the clouds.” I think Iwo Jima got the total eclipse, lasting more than six minutes, but around Tokyo we still got a partial eclipse. I’m not sure how long it lasted because the clouds lasted longer, but at times they pieced out and we got to see this nice little thumbnail of solar phenomena (do doooo do doo do. Phenomena! do doooo do doo! Phenomena! do doooo do doo do, do do do, do do do, do do do do do doo doo doo doo doo!)

Didn't your mom ever teach you not to look at solar eclipses with eyes unprotected??? Cool pictures anyway…
